I’ve been busy with many things—personal, professional, parental—that last few months and forgot to post about an event I did during Pride month here in Seattle.
The whole event was huge—the doors were open from a little after 6:00 pm and I was signing books until after 10:00 pm. Before the main event we had riddle games (thank you, Megan Cavell!) and medieval-inflected gaming in the lobby, then the Medieval Women’s Choir. Then I was introduced by Professor María Bullón-Fernández, Associate Dean of Arts and Humanities at Seattle University and a specialist in medieval literature.
My keynote was “The Queer Medieval: Queer History and Historical Fiction,” in which I talked for abut 45 minutes, followed by a conversation with María, followed by audience Q&A. Then by signing books (for over an hour!). A tiring but brilliant evening.
I did two posts about it on my personal blog—lots of information in the first one, and many photos in the second—but if you want to skip all that and just watch, here you go. (Women’s Medieval Choir begins 08:29. Introduction by María at 31:25. Keynote at 39:49.) Enjoy!
